Marriage and Couples Counseling
|

I'm often asked, "What is couples counseling like?"
Our first meeting will be an assessment. Both of you will meet with me to discuss the
problems you are having. I will listen to each of you, not to judge who is right or wrong, but
to help uncover the dynamics that are affecting you as a couple. It is uncovering this
dynamic that has the real potential to help you as a couple. At the end of the assessment,
we will talk about some of these dynamics and how (and if) I think you can benefit from
couples counseling. Instead of automatically booking a follow-up session, I'll ask the two of
you to talk with each other about what we discussed in the assessment to see if you want to
continue in couples counseling.
My approach is solution-focused: helping the two of you solve issues that prevent you from
being the loving couple you once were. My therapy style is direct and interactive.
Common reasons couples schedule an appointment:
-One partner is jealous without cause or One partner has been unfaithful
-You can't stand arguing anymore & want to COMMUNICATE better
-Couples with different sexual drives
-Couples who want to learn how to stay together "for the kids"
-Couples that fell in love over the Internet and now are having problems
I offer both day and evening appointments to fit both of your busy
schedules.
